Chilton, Oxon Web Sites
Chilton is an old village, one of the most southerly parishes of Oxfordshire,
located on the Berkshire Downs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty,
just to the North of the
Ridgeway National Trail.
The parish is divided into 2 parts by a four lane highway, the A34.
Residents traditionally earned their living by working on the flat area
known as Chilton Field and lived in the hillier part to the East. There are

These scientific establishments grew out of the RAF Harwell which was built
in Chilton and Harwell during the Second World War.

Farm, Chilton, entrance from the road towards Didcot over Hagborne Hill
just past Townend, on the south side.

- The headquarters of
Blue Circle Cement moved to the new building just
West of the Holloway opposite Townend. They were bought up by
Lafarge Cement about 2001.
