- 'Harwell Campus' this is the Harwell Bus Park halfway down
Fermi Avenue, near the old Harwell Library. Buses will usually stop for you
on request just past the AEA Main gate on the A4185

Roads
Chilton was shown on the 'Oxford to Poole' section of the first English Road
atlas of 1675 when the main road from Oxford to Southampton passed through
the village. This has now become the A34, a 4 lane highway bisecting the
village. Several 'Green Roads' are near the village, the Bargeway,
the Hollowway, the Icknield Way, and the Ridgeway National Trail.
A34 access
there are only exit slip roads to/from the South in Chilton.
Access to both the North and South sides of the A34 is from the Milton
interchange about 4 miles North along the A4185.
Cyclists trying to get South, to East or West Ilsley or Newbury,
have to take their life in their hands and ride on the A34 verge or go round
on rough tracks only passable by mountain bikes.
