Loss of Newbury Buses

Richard Dudding, Director for Environment & Economy in a letter to our MP, Ed Vaizey, confirms that the last day of operation of services 6 and 9 in Oxfordshire will be Saturday, 8th December. This service came from Newbury via the Isleys through or near Chilton and on to Didcot.

He also says:

New service number 96

The Oxfordshire County Council website states that a new operator (Thames Travel)will run a single shopper's round trip bus from Chilton to Didcot until May 2008. I do not know the timetable myself, but I was told that it would leave Chilton about 9.40 and arrive in Didcot about 10.00 and return from Didcot Station at 11.30. This means it is no use for my Didcot yoga class, 10 - 12. Nor will it be any use for my visits to the clinic in a London Eye Hospital.

Details can be found on the Thames Travel website at:

From 10 December 2007, Thames Travel 32 replaces Stagecoach 32 and 33 which goes to the Harwell Campus.

Hagbourne Hill Road Closure

There are signs on the road over Hagbourne Hill giving notice that the road from the top of the hill down to the Reading Road in West Hagbourne will be closed from Thursday 28th to Friday 29th September.

We think this means that the road from the top of Hagbourne Hill along the Icknield Way down to Upton is still open.
