Buses during the period of A34 roadworks starting 15 Jan 2007

During the period of the roadworks on the A34 a shuttle bus service will operate to cover Newbury Bus routes 6 and 9 between Chilton, Harwell and Didcot in both directions.

The shuttle will run at the times shown in the current timetable (published with Chilton Chronicle December 2006 and here on the Chilton village website http://www.chiltonoxon.ndo.co.uk/ and the UKAEA website http://images.harwell.org.uk/how_to_get_here/pdf_upload/HC_1106v6.pdf ). but the No 6 route will also serve Chilton Post Office (normally route 6 only stops on the outskirts of the village).

The through Newbury to Didcot service will continue to run, but will be unable to serve Chilton and Harwell in the northbound direction while the Chilton slip road is closed during the roadworks. Passengers from Newbury and villages south of the Ridgeway are therefore advised to stay on the bus to Didcot and get off when the bus calls at Harwell or Chilton on its southbound journey.

No. 9 comes through the village, the 6 will usually stop near the A34 slip road south to Newbury
