Closure of Road over Hagborne Hill

The road over Hagborne Hill, between Chilton Road in West Hagbourne and Townend, Chilton is to be closed for repairs from 30th May for about 5 weeks. Diversions will be in place via the A417, Blewbury to Rowstock road, and the A4185, Rowstock to Chilton. A notice was published in the Didcot Herald, 11 May 2006. More information is available from Stephen Hatwell, on 08453 101 111.

I phoned him last week to enquire whether the road from Upton to the Reservoir, (The Iknield Way), will be open for drivers coming to Chilton. He said that he thought it would be closed towards the end of the repair period but is likely to be open for the first 2 weeks of the repairs, until about 11th June.

On May 16 a notice at the bottom of the hill in West Hagbourne stated the road will be closed from 30 May to 11 June.

They did not give it a new foundation, just patched it up in places.
