3 Mar 2007 The northbound single lane restriction will be removed
during the day. Night time works will continue both north and southbound
with a combination of lane 1 and 2 closures until Friday 9 March
2 Mar 2007 On Thursday 1st March the southbound lane restriction was
removed during the day and the northbound lane closure switched over from
lane 2 to lane 1.
2 Feb 2007 - the A34 Northbound Chilton off-slip road has been opened to traffic.
The contra-flow is planned to move from the southbound carriageway to the
northbound over the weekend of 3rd to 4th February.
The work started on 10 January 2007, the Chilton N
bound slip road was closed on 16th and is expected to remain closed for about 4 weeks.
Details about changes to the bus service
caused by these roadworks are now avialable;
the Highways Agency is funding extra shuttle buses ( 6 and 9)
Chilton to Didcot all of which will come through the village to the old Post Office.

The scheme includes partial reconstruction to both the north and southbound
carriageways to remove the underlying layer of concrete which is cracking
and causing damage to the upper black top surfaces. Also included in the
scheme are new traffic signs, parapet replacement, saftey fence works and
maintenance of the drainage system.
There are likely to be times when A34 traffic will leave the road at the
Milton Interchange, be diverted through Rowstock, up the hill to the
Chilton A34 roundabout where it will rejoin the A34 southbound.
We are trying to find out who should repair the road surfaces in Chilton
after carrying all this extra traffic this winter.
